You have been invited to study or invited as an exchange doctoral student

If you have been invited to study or invited as an exchange doctoral student in Sweden for a period longer than three months, you must apply for a visitor’s permit.

You need to book an appointment with the Embassy of Sweden in Rome to register your application.

On the Swedish Migration Agency’s website, you find information about the application process and the requirements.

When the Embassy has registered your application, it will be sent to the Swedish Migration Agency for handling and decision.

NOTE: If you have been admitted to the exchange studies through e.g. www.universityadmissions.se then you need to apply for a residence permit for higher education (online application on the Swedish Migration Agency’s website).
