Chiles president utlyste den 19 mars, 90 dagars undantagstillstånd (Estado de Excepción Constitucional de Catástrofe). Undantagstillståndet har den 16 juni förlängts med ytterligare 90 dagar. Detta innebär bl.a. att mötes- och rörelsefriheter kan begränsas, till exempel genom utegångsförbud. Militären kallas in för att ge stöd. Åtgärder kan vidtas med kort varsel. Ambassaden uppmanar svenskar i Chile att följa ambassadens reseinformation och lokala myndigheters uppmaningar och anvisningar samt att noga följa lokala medier.
