All foreign nationals – including U.S. citizens – who plan to move to Sweden or stay in Sweden for more than 90 days need to obtain a residence permit before entering the country.
As of November 1, 2022, the Migration Agency introduces a new rule for better passport checks. The Migration Agency will contact an applicant to schedule an appointment with the Embassy for passport and identity control. As soon as you have received the request from the Migration Agency, please email email@example.com to schedule an appointment. For more information about the new rules, please see the Swedish Migration Agency's website here.
