Do I need to book an appointment?

Appointments are necessary for certain services both at the Embassy in Washington DC and at the Consulate General in New York, but there are distinct differences - see below:

The Embassy in Washington DC is closed for visitors due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Consulate General opened for passport appointments on June 8 and for visiting hours on June 19.

As of October 18, 2016, any visitor to the Consulate General must have an appointment. Due to building regulations, we can unfortunately no longer offer drop-in service.

Please note that all visa and residence permit applications/interviews are handled by the Embassy in Washington DC.

Embassy in Washington DC
Appointments are only required to renew/apply for passports or for migration/visa relation matters. All other services are handled during regular opening hours, without scheduling appointments.
