Do I need to book an appointment?

Appointments are necessary for certain services both at the Embassy in Washington DC and at the Consulate General in New York, but there are distinct differences - see below.

Embassy in Washington DC
Appointments are required to renew/apply for passports or for migration/visa relation matters. All other services are normally handled during regular opening hours, without scheduling appointments. 

Consulate General in New York
As of October 18, 2016, any visitor to the Consulate General must book an appointment.
