On June 9, 2024 the election for the European parliament takes place. All Swedish citizens who are 18 years old and above, and have been registered as residing in Sweden at some point, are eligible to vote.

Advance voting at the embassy in Ottawa

You cannot vote on the election day from outside of Sweden. you must vote in advance (förtidsrösta) if voting from abroad. You can vote in advance at the embassy between 9:00AM - 12:00PM on the following days

  • Friday May 17
  • Thursday May 23
  • Friday May 24 
  • Saturday May 25

The earliest you can send a postal vote is April 25, 2024.

Eligibility to vote for Swedish citizens abroad

You can vote in the election for the European parliament if you

  • Are a Swedish citizen
  • have turned 18 years old no later than election day
  • have been registered as residing in Sweden at some point.
