Voting in the EU elections from the United Kingdom

Elections to the European Parliament will be held on 9 June 2024

If you live in the United Kingdom, you will be able to participate in the European Parliament election by either postal or advance voting at a polling station either at the embassy or at the consulates in Edinburgh and Belfast. Please view the opening hours here.

As the votes need to reach the Swedish Election Authority latest the 8 June, voting from the Embassy will take place during the weeks preceding the election.

The Embassy and the different consulates will offer materials for postal vote. If you are a part of the electoral register, materials for your postal vote will also be sent to your home address. The earliest you can submit your postal vote is the 25th April 2024.

You have the right to vote in elections to the European Parliament if you are:

  • 18 years of age no later than on election day.
  • Swedish citizen and is or has been registered in Sweden, or
  • are a citizen of one of the EU member states, are registered in Sweden and have registered on the electoral roll no later than 30 days before election day. Read more about how to register for the electoral roll here.
