On June 27, the Embassy co-organized a one-day seminar and workshop on children’s literature together with Unicef Jordan. The seminar gathered approximately 20 facilitators from 10 Unicef´s Makani centers, educational centers and catch-up programmes for children outside of the formal education. The facilitators came from East Amman, Zarqa, Irbid and Jordan Valley.

During the seminar, a pedagogic toolkit comprising proven methods for teaching children’s literature were presented by two Arabic teachers from Amman National School. The seminar was based on the classic tale of Pippi Longstocking by the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. In conjunction with the seminar and with the support from the Swedish Institute, the Embassy set up an exhibition on Swedish children’s literature titled “Where Children Grow”, displaying books such as Alfons Åberg, Pom and Pim and Findus.
