Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo, Japan.

Local Time 8:17 PM

Mr. Fumio Kuma, Sweden’s Honorary Consul in Fukuoka and Chairman of Seibu Giken Co., Ltd., on the occasion of his receiving the Royal Order of the Polar Star from the Kingdom of Sweden

The Royal Order of the Polar Star is one of Sweden’s Royal Orders of Knighthood, conferred by H.M. The King of Sweden.

It is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Sweden, Swedish interests, and the strengthening of international relations. As such, it represents one of Sweden’s highest distinctions and recognises long-standing efforts to promote friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding between Sweden and other countries. The Embassy extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Kuma for his many years of dedication to strengthening ties between Sweden and Japan.

The visit also included Seibu Giken, where the Embassy delegation had the opportunity to learn more about the company’s activities and visit its in-house daycare center. In Fukuoka, the programme further provided opportunities to experience local culture, including Zen temples, ceramics, and traditional crafts, while also highlighting the dynamic energy of startups and university-led projects shaping the future of the region.
