For Swedes in United States

Pick up passport/national ID card in Houston

Starting September 15th, the Consulate General of Sweden in Houston will have drop-in for picking up passport/NID (no need for a scheduled appointment):

  • Tuesdays (except for public holidays): 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Thursdays (except for public holidays): 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

When your passport/NID has been received in Houston, an automated confirmation email is sent to you (email provided in the passport/NID application), followed by an email with information about how and when you can collect the passport/NID. If you have not received this, the passport/NID has not been received in Houston.

The Consulate General of Sweden in Houston’s district is Texas, which includes the Honorary Consulate in Dallas. If you have requested to collect your passport/NID in Dallas, it is first sent to Houston, where it is registered as received, and then forwarded to Dallas. The fee for collecting a passport/NID in the US is USD 21 per passport/NID. Shipping fee will be added if forwarded. Kindly let us know if you wish to collect your passport in Dallas instead of Houston.

At your drop-in in Houston, please bring the following:

  • Your current passport or national ID card, which will be canceled upon collection of the new document.
  • If your current passport is no longer valid, you must present a valid form of identification (a Swedish driver's license or a U.S. state-issued ID card).
  • Children do not need to be present; however, the legal guardian must present valid identification (driver's license or passport).
  • There is a U.S. pickup fee of $ 21 per passport/NID in cash. Kindly bring the exact amount. We’re not able to give change or accept extra money.
  • Shipping fees will be added if forwarded

Our address is 3040 Post Oak Blvd., Houston, Texas 77056. When you arrive, contact the front office in the lobby. Parking is available nearby, for example the Galleria Red Parking Hidalgo St., Houston, TX 77076

➡️ Passports will be held at the consulates for six months.
