For Swedes in Australia

Appointment booking for passport and national ID card applications

To apply for a Swedish ordinary passport or national ID card at the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra, you must have a booked appointment. Bookings, changes, and cancellations are made via the Embassy's online booking system.

The information on this page applies only to applications for a Swedish ordinary passport and national ID card. Information on booking an appointment to visit the embassy in other matters can be found here: Contact.

Who can book an appointment?

To book an appointment to apply for a Swedish ordinary passport or national ID card for yourself or your child, the applicant must:

  • Be a Swedish citizen: Information about Swedish citizenship.
  • Have a Swedish identity designation: A Swedish personal identity number (personnummer) or a coordination number (samordningsnummer) must have been assigned by the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket). A name registration alone is not sufficient.

The applicant's own personal identity number or coordination number must be provided when making the appointment. If you are waiting to be assigned a coordination number, you can book an appointment for a passport or national ID card application only after the number has been issued.

Important

If you are unable to attend your appointment, or if you no longer need it, please reschedule or cancel it so that the appointment can be made available to someone else.
