The Embassy of Sweden in Washington, D.C., is hiring an Event Coordinator & Multimedia Technician for the Embassy’s Events & Outreach Programs

The Embassy of Sweden in Washington, D.C., is one of the largest Swedish missions in the world and serves as the official link between the governments of Sweden and the United States. The Embassy is a part of House of Sweden. Located in Georgetown and built in 2006, House of Sweden is the centerpiece for Swedish public diplomacy in the United States.

The Embassy is responsible for a wide range of policy areas and is organizationally divided into several sections, including: Political Affairs; Trade and Economic Affairs; Consular and Administrative Affairs; Public Diplomacy, Press and Culture; Science and Innovation; and Defense.

Public diplomacy is an important part of the Embassy’s mission in the United States. Our Embassy conducts public outreach through Exhibition and Cultural Programs and offers both in-person and virtual events, weekend exhibition showings and collaborative projects with external partners. The Embassy is looking for a skilled Event Coordinator & Multimedia Technician to help develop and execute successful Embassy events and programs.

Are you a skilled event coordinator that also enjoys working with audio and media? This hybrid position combines the organizational and practical skills of an event coordinator with the technical skills of a multimedia designer and producer. As a member of a fast-moving team, you must be a problem solver who is able to transition quickly between various tasks. We welcome an individual with varied work and life experiences who can bring a diverse skill set to this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Alongside our Event Center Manager, work with all aspects of event coordination and organization, including hiring and managing vendors, soliciting bids, managing contracts, establishing schedules, and supporting clients.
  • Set up and operate various technical production equipment, including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment and microphones.
  • Edit video recordings and produce videos.
  • Be the Embassy’s point of contact for in-house technical questions related to the Embassy’s events (in-person, digital or hybrid).
  • Manage the Embassy’s Zoom account and Zoom meetings and webinars, as well as other potential virtual event platforms.
  • Coordinate, supervise and manage projects related to exhibition production and maintenance.
  • When needed, carry out logistical tasks such as assisting exhibitors during installations, troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring objects on display in the exhibitions are maintained, moving/packing/unpacking exhibits, and providing technical assistance as necessary.
  • Take part in the continuous process to improve and develop the event center at House of Sweden.


  • Experience with customer service and event/project management.
  • Experience in the technical aspects of event organizing – for in-person, virtual and hybrid events.
  • Expert knowledge of online communication platforms such as Zoom, Skype, YouTube, and Teams.
  • Understanding of, and knowledge in, the production and editing of audio and video files, computer graphics, and multimedia presentations.
  • Proficiency in software such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign’s audio production software, and Illustrator is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • American Citizenship or Green Card is required.
  • Knowledge in the Swedish language is an advantage but not a requirement.

Job Type
Full-time position with 6 months trial employment. The position includes working on occasional weeknights and weekends.
