The Embassy of Sweden is seeking a dedicated and proactive House Manager/Butler to join our team, supporting the  Ambassador of Sweden to the United States.

The Embassy of Sweden is seeking a dedicated and proactive House Manager/Butler to join our team, supporting the Ambassador of Sweden to the United States. This full-time role demands a highly motivated individual capable of independently managing a broad spectrum of responsibilities with precision and professionalism. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the official dining room, working in close collaboration with the chef and various embassy departments. Adaptability and the ability to manage a flexible schedule are essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and execute diverse events at the official dining room,

- Liaise with the chef and embassy departments to coordinate event logistics,

- Oversee the maintenance and inventory of event-related items, ensuring everything is in order,

- Design and implement event decorations that enhance the ambiance and reflect the theme of the occasions,

- Supervise temporary staff during events, guaranteeing high standards of service,

- Manage basic financial documents related to event budgeting,

- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and related areas.


- A background in hospitality, food and beverage, or a related field, with relevant training or experience,

- Fluent in English; Swedish language skills are advantageous but not required,

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including many outside of standard business hours,

- Ability to undergo and pass a routine background check.

Compensation and Benefits

- Competitive salary based on a 40-hour work week.

- Initial one-year contract with the potential for extension.
