The Embassy represents and advances Swedish policies, interests, and values in political and economic relations, development cooperation, trade, and investment promotion, in cultural and information matters. It provides consular services to Swedish nationals and migration services to non-nationals. The Migration section is a part of the Embassy of Sweden. The section is mainly responsible for receiving and verifying applications for visa and residence permit, conducting interviews with applicants, answering questions on phone/email/mail/archiving among other things. The Embassy is now looking to hire a migration assistant. The position is a full-time, permanent position, with start date 1 September 2026.
Conduct interviews in Bengali and English in accordance with Swedish migration procedures.
Respond to enquiries by telephone and email.
Perform administrative tasks related to migration case processing.
Document examination and verification.
Carry out any other duties assigned by the Head of Section.
University degree in a relevant field.
Excellent computer literacy.
Documented administrative experience.
Very good written and spoken English.
Very good written and spoken Bengali.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Swedish and EU migration legislation.
Proven ability to conduct interviews and assessments within the Swedish migration context.
Experience of working in the public sector.
Experience in document examination and verification.
Experience in a service-oriented role.
The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrate initiative, and deliver high-quality work within established deadlines. The role requires the ability to manage fluctuating workloads and perform effectively under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential, as the Migration Assistant works closely with all members of the Migration Section.
The job requires a person who is fast-thinking, flexible, productive, analytical and who has strong personal integrity.
