Only Pre-booked appointments

As a precaution due to the coronavirus situation, the Embassy will continue to only accept pre-booked appointments for consular matters. This includes application for passports and collection of passports. The opening hours for the Embassy’s switchboard (03-5562 50 50) is from now on Monday – Friday 09.00-12.00, 15.00-17.00.

Temporary entry ban to Sweden

To mitigate the effects of the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the outbreak, a temporary ban on entry to the EU via Sweden is in force. The Government has decided to extend the entry ban until 31 October 2020. Due to the coronavirus and the temporary entry ban to Sweden, the Swedish Migration Agency has decided that the majority of visa applications will be rejected. This applies if you wish to visit Sweden and are a citizen of a country outside the EU.

Entry ban to Japan - relaxation for foreign residents from 1 September

From 1 September, Swedish and other foreign citizens who live in Japan and have a valid re-entry permit will be able to leave and return to Japan. Those who have already left Japan for Sweden, and other countries that are subject to the entry ban, will be able to return. Certain procedures must be followed.
