Can I lose my Swedish citizenship when I’m born and live abroad?

To avoid losing your Swedish citizenship if you were born and live abroad, you can apply to retain it. You must do this after the age of 18 but before you turn 22. You do not need to make such an application if you have lived in Sweden for 12 consecutive months and during that time was registered in the Swedish Registry Authorities (Folkbokföringsregistret).
