Some parts of Johan de Wittlaan are closed for traffic, but it's possible to drive to the backside of the Embassy. We advice you to use public transportation.
Closure of Johan de Wittlaan
Due to preparations for the NATO summit, Johan de Wittlaan is closed in both directions between Eisenhowerlaan and the beginning of President Kennedylaan from April until early August 2025. Expect longer travel times and detours.
Detours
The detour route to the shopping area runs via Scheveningseweg and Frankenslag, or via Statenlaan. Current detour routes are available via navigation systems or the website: Link to Johan de Wittlaan: planning en omleidingen - Bereikbaarheid Den Haag.

Disruptions from Sunday afternoon, June 22 to Friday 27 June
Road users between Amsterdam, The Hague, and Rotterdam should expect the first disruptions on the road starting Sunday afternoon, June 22. This is due to necessary preparations, such as placing barriers. Due to (temporary and partial) closures of (high)ways, on- and off-ramps, and viaducts and tunnels on the roads A5, A4, A44, and N44, there is a chance of severe disruption from that moment until Thursday, June 26.
The same applies to regional and local roads around and in The Hague, Wassenaar, Katwijk, Noordwijk, Haarlemmermeer, Leiden, and Rotterdam.
