Residence and Work Permit Applications
The Embassy in Chisinau does not process any visas. Due to Romania's entry into the Schengen area, the Swedish Embassy in Bucharest no longer handles migration matters. Instead, applicants from Moldova should contact one of five designated Swedish “Schengen hub” embassies: Athens, Berlin, Madrid, Paris, or Rome.
You may choose any of these five embassies to submit your residence or work permit application. Note that this change does not affect Schengen visa applications. Contact details for all Swedish missions abroad are available at swedenabroad.se.
There are currently no official Swedish language courses offered in Moldova.
For those interested in studying Swedish, there are several options available:
Studying in Sweden: Visit studyinsweden.se for information about learning Swedish in Sweden.
Uppsala International Summer Session (UISS): Offers summer courses in both Swedish and English, including language classes (20–28 hours per week) and courses on Swedish culture, history, and society (12 hours per week).
SWEDEX: An international certificate for Swedish as a foreign language, available both in Sweden and abroad. The exam is offered at levels A2 and B1 according to the Council of Europe’s CEFR scale and evaluates all language skills, with a focus on communication.
Embassies, career consulates, and honorary consulates are not authorized to issue apostilles.
The Embassy can legalize:
documents signed by an authorized official at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs,
