Consulate General of Sweden Hosts Annual National Day Reception in Hong Kong

The Consulate General of Sweden in Hong Kong, alongside Team Sweden partners, hosted its annual National Day reception to celebrate the Swedish National Day and the enduring diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Sweden and Hong Kong.

The daytime event brought together approximately 300 distinguished guests, including senior government officials, diplomatic representatives, corporate partners, and prominent members of the local and international communities.

The Consulate was honoured to welcome two Guests of Honour to the reception: The Hon Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government (right); and Mr Changwei Zhang, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (OCMFA) of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR (left).

In her official address, Consul General Louise Bergholm spotlighted the vibrant, long-standing relationship connecting Sweden and Hong Kong, reinforcing the Consulate's ongoing commitment to driving Swedish interests and fostering regional partnerships.

The Consul General also outlined the core pillars defining Sweden's current foreign policy agenda. These include an unwavering support for Ukraine, the reinforcement of robust security and trade cooperation globally, and the continued advancement of gender equality.

The reception served as a key milestone to reflect on a highly successful year of close collaboration within Team Sweden, most notably alongside Business Sweden and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. Moving forward into the next year, Team Sweden remains dedicated to promoting Swedish innovation across critical sectors, including sustainable transport, advanced healthcare, and smart, inclusive urban development.

The event also provided an invaluable networking platform, allowing long-standing partners to reconnect and new cross-sector relationships to be forged, reinforcing Sweden's active presence within Hong Kong's international community.
