Do you have a coordination number (samordningsnummer)? According to new regulations, such numbers will automatically be declared inactive after five years if the Swedish Tax Agency has not received an application of renewal. This might extend the processing time for administrative procedures, such as for example passport applications. To those with a coordination number: We kindly recommend you to contact the Swedish Tax Agency to inquire about the status of your coordination number before your visit to the Consulate General, as you might be required to bring additional documentation for your passport application. If you are a minor you need company from at least one of your custodians for the visit, as well as bringing the filled out forms Consent of Custodian and Swedish Citizen – Form for passport applicant. Please note that both forms need to be signed by both custodians.
Please note that you can also renew your national ID-card at the Consulate General.
To apply for a passport for a child born abroad, the child must have been assigned a coordination number (samordningsnummer). If you live in Hong Kong, you are welcome to book an appointment for the application of a coordination number at the Consulate General.
You need to bring a filled-out version of the Name application form to the appointment, signed by both legal guardians and the applicant, if she or he is 12 years or older. The child must be present when the application is filed, accompanied by at least one legal guardian. You are also required to bring the following documents in original*:
