Swedish Election 2022 - How to vote from Hong Kong

The 2022 Swedish general election to the Riksdag, municipal councils and regional councils is scheduled for 11th of September 2022. Swedish citizens living abroad can vote at the Consulate General of Sweden in Hong Kong.

Opening hours for the Election are:

25th of August 14.00 - 16.00

26th of August 09.00 - 12.00

27th of August 10.00 - 15.00

29th of August 09.00 - 12.00, 14.00 - 16.00

30th of August 09.00 - 12.00, 14.00 - 16.00

31st of August 14.00 - 16.00

1st of September 14.00 - 20.00

Please note that these opening hours are specific to the election and that you still have to book an appointment for other consular activities.

Please bring your Swedish Passport/ Swedish ID-Card, Swedish driver's license or an official local legimitation along with a valid voting card. If you have not recieved a voting card, you can still vote at the Consulate General.

You must apply to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) every ten years to be included on the electoral roll for a further ten years. Before the election, the Election Authority (Valmyndigheten) sends out expatriate voting cards and postal voting materials to all Swedes who are listed with the Tax Agency as resident outside Sweden 30 days before election. In order to be included on the electoral roll you must complete the form "Ny adress/röstlängd för utvandrad" and send it to the Swedish Tax Agency (SKV 7842.pdf).

Postal voting is possible from the 28th of July. You must make sure that your vote will have arrived by the 9th of September. You can find more information about early voting by clicking here. Please observe that you CANNOT hand in your postal vote at the Consulate General.
