The Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai will be open for visitors from 8 June

The lockdown of Shanghai introduced on 1 April 2022 is now easing up and Chinese authorities allow personal movement and activities in the city provided the protective measures in force are duly respected.

The Consulate General re-opens its premises to visitors on 8 June.

All visitors are requested to follow Chinese protection regulations against the COVID virus when on the Consulate General’s premises as well as in the rest of the Central Plaza office building, notably through observing a safe distance to others.

To get access to the Consulate General’s premises a prior confirmed and scheduled appointment is necessary. All visitors must present a valid PCR test of not more than 72 hours.

Passports

Prior confirmed and scheduled appointment is necessary for the application for and/or retrieval of Swedish passports. The appointment request should be made by mail at generalkonsulat.shanghai@gov.se

Persons wishing to visit the Consulate General in other consular matters can do so on prior confirmed and scheduled appointment. The appointment request should made by mail at generalkonsulat.shanghai@gov.se

Visit at the Consulate General’s migration section

The migration section at the Consulate General of Sweden is open for visit on Monday to Friday between 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. If you need to book an appointment for interview for residence permit, you may send an appointment request to the following e-mail address: generalkonsulat.shanghai-visum@gov.se. Please include your full name, cell phone number and control number as provided by the Swedish Migration Agency (if applicable) as well as the purpose of your visit in the e-mail.

Kindly note that if you intend to pick up a residence permit card at the Consulate and there are more than one of you in the same family/travel group, there’s a possibility of allowing just one person to pick up all of the residence permit cards by proxy. As of 8 June 2022, VFS Global’s visa application centre in Shanghai will resume operation. Those who wishes to apply for a Schengen visa, may contact VFS Global in order to make an appointment. Please refer to VFS Global’s website for more information.
