IKEA China Sustainability Workshop

As part of its China 20-year anniversary campaign "Celebrate the Better Everyday", IKEA held a workshop on sustainability in Shanghai on January 16. Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai Ms. Lisette Lindahl gave a keynote speech at the event.

The workshop focused on IKEA's future development in sustainable economy and promotion of sustainable consumption and lifestyle. Besides Ms. Lindahl, more than thirty representatives from the United Nations, Chinese government, universities, think-tanks, NGOs and other stakeholders took part in the event.

Sustainability is a priority for the Swedish government, who aims to build Sweden into the world's first fossil-free welfare nation. Fulfillment of this commitment needs contribution from companies. Having integrated affordable and clean energy, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life on land and other three goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into its People & Planet Positive Strategy, IKEA is one of such companies. The furniture giant has also been cooperating with the Consulate for projects on environment and sustainability in Shanghai.
