On 12 October 2025, a new digital Entry/Exit System (EES) will be introduced in the EU that applies to anyone travelling to or from Sweden and who is a third-country national.
In line with EU data protection rules, the Entry/Exit System will gradually record:
The purpose of the new system is, among other things, to make travel to the EU more efficient for travellers from third countries.
Sweden has diplomatic relations with almost all states in the world, with embassies and consulates in around half of these. Sweden's foreign representation consists of approximately 100 missions abroad and 350 honorary consulates.
