End of Swedish EU presidency in Shanghai, Midsummer and celebrating Sweden 500

On June 21, the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai, together with Business Sweden hosted a diplomatic reception to celebrate the end of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and Swedish midsummer at YongFoo Élite in Shanghai.

Sweden has held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union since January 1, 2023, during a year that is significant for Sweden also for other reasons. The year of 2023 marks 500 years since Gustav Vasa was elected king, which laid the foundation for Sweden to become an independent state.

At the reception the Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai Ambassador Marie-Claire Swärd Capra delivered remarks to the more than 150 guests from the diplomatic and business community that attended the event. The event offered an excellent opportunity for exchange of experiences and dialogue wrapping up the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in Shanghai against the backdrop of traditional Chinese music in the beautiful garden of the YongFoo Élite.
