Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai Celebrates National Day Reception

On June 9, the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai hosted a reception to celebrate Sweden’s National Day at the Ritz-Carlton Pudong.

The event was hosted by Consul General Annika Hahn-Englund and brought together approximately 300 guests from the business and cultural sectors, as well as the diplomatic community.

The Consulate General was also honored by the presence of Mr. Wu Wei, Executive Vice Mayor of the Shanghai Municipal Government.

Held under the theme “Experience Sweden,” the reception offered guests an immersive introduction to Swedish society and way of life. Inspired by the Swedish summer, the evening showcased elements of nature, outdoor living, and sustainability, complemented by Swedish food, beverages, and cultural entertainment.

In her remarks, Consul General Hahn-Englund highlighted that this was her first National Day celebration in Shanghai and reflected on Sweden’s “season of light,” symbolizing openness and optimism. She also emphasized the concept of “Made with Sweden,” underscoring the importance of collaboration and partnership as a defining feature of Sweden’s global engagement.

Guests were invited to explore an exhibition presented by the Swedish Institute, offering insights into Sweden’s strengths in innovation, creativity, and international cooperation.

The program also featured a musical highlight introducing a symphonic concert marking the 10th anniversary of Stellaris, created by Swedish game developer Paradox Interactive, demonstrating Sweden’s global influence in the creative industries.
