Sweden & Zambia

If you want to visit Sweden or the Schengen area you may need a visa

A visa gives you permission to enter and stay in the Schengen area for a short period of time.

The Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka is no longer handling Schengen visa applications.

All visa applications from Zambia are handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi. Applications are still submitted via VFS in Lusaka, who forwards the application to the Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi.

If you live in Zambia and wish to travel to Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain or Switzerland, you must lodge your visa application at the VFS Visa Application Centre in Lusaka.

To lodge an application at the Visa Application Centre please contact VFS Global: http://visa.vfsglobal.com/zmb/en/swe for an appointment. You must present your visa application in person.

Specific information on how to proceed with your application via VFS Global can be found on their website http://visa.vfsglobal.com/zmb/en/swe

Updated warning: Avoid people selling services for family reunification

The Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has been informed that there might be individuals falsely representing the Swedish Migration Agency or the Embassy in certain countries. These individuals are claiming that it is possible e.g. through payment, to obtain an earlier appointment for an interview at the Embassy or that the applicants needs to pay an additional fee for booking an interview at a specific Embassy - sometimes even using official letterheads and pretending to be officials. Please note that the Swedish Embassies and Consulates General have nothing to do with any individuals who offer services for payment. All appointments for interviews for family reunification are made through the Embassies and are free of charge.  Please see Swedish Migration Agency webpage for more information.

Please contact the Embassy if you have any information that people are falsely representing Swedish authorities or if you suspect that somebody is trying to sell you services for additional charges: ambassaden.lusaka@gov.se
