Sweden & Zambia

If you want to visit Sweden or the Schengen area and you are a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA, you may need to apply for a visa.

Before proceeding please read the latest information about Covid-19 and its impact on Schengen visas and your possibility to travel (information is continously being updated).

The Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka currently represents Iceland and Spain in the Schengen-cooperation.

If you live in Zambia and wish to travel to any of these countries for a visit, you must lodge your visa application at the Visa Application Centre in Lusaka. Please contact VFS Global via www.vfsglobal.se/zambia.

How to lodge a visa application

Apply via VFS Global. Bookings for lodging a visa application cannot be made via the Embassy. To lodge an application at the Visa Application Centre please contact VFS Global: www.vfsglobal.se/zambia.

You must present your visa application, in person, at the VFS Global visa application center. VFS Global can also provide you with further information and other services.

Visa applications shall be submitted by appointment at:

Goldman House, Plot 58, Stand 2374, Great East Road, Lusaka, Zambia

VFS Global charges a service fee over and above the visa fee for their services in accordance with the Visa Code.

Specific information on how to proceed with your application via VFS Global can be found on their website www.vfsglobal.se/zambia

A visa gives you permission to enter and stay in the Schengen area for a short period of time. You need to have a booked appointment to present yourself in person with your passport in order for the biometrics to be registered.

Updated warning: Avoid people selling services for family reunification

The Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has been informed that there might be individuals falsely representing the Swedish Migration Agency or the Embassy in certain countries. These individuals are claiming that it is possible e.g. through payment, to obtain an earlier appointment for an interview at the Embassy or that the applicants needs to pay an additional fee for booking an interview at a specific Embassy - sometimes even using official letterheads and pretending to be officials. Please note that the Swedish Embassies and Consulates General have nothing to do with any individuals who offer services for payment. All appointments for interviews for family reunification are made through the Embassies and are free of charge.  Please see Swedish Migration Agency webpage for more information.

Please contact the Embassy if you have any information that people are falsely representing Swedish authorities or if you suspect that somebody is trying to sell you services for additional charges: ambassaden.lusaka@gov.se
