If you cannot or do not want to apply online, you apply on a paper form that you submit to the embassy.
1. Prepare the documentation
Check which documents and personal data you need. The Swedish Migration Agency gives priority to applications that are completed in full, and you get a decision sooner.
2. Pay the application fee
Read more under Fees 2023.
3. Submit an application at the embassy
Bring the completed application form together with all the necessary documents and the exact fee amount. There are different forms for different types of work permits. Check the Migration Agency's website.
The embassy will then send your documents to the Migration Agency in Sweden.
Book your appointment by phone.
4. Wait for a decision
You will be notified via email about the Migration Agency's decision. Your employer or contractor will also be informed of the decision by mail. The actual decision you can get if you contact the embassy by telephone or email. The embassy will then e-mail you the decision.
5. Arrange for a residence permit card
You arrange for the card in the same way as described in the section How to apply.
