Visiting relatives and friends – extra documents

Due to a temporary ban on entering Sweden, the VFS Global Visa Application Centers have stopped accepting visa applications from March 23, 2020 until further notice. In the same period the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow accepts visa applications only of those who belong to the category of people who are allowed to enter Sweden and need a visa. More information you can find here. You should contact the Embassy prior to your application by email: visa.moscow@gov.se.

If you apply for a visa to visit relatives and friends, you need the documents listed below.

You must have:

  • The documents required by all visa applicants. Read more under ‘Required documents’.

Documents concerning the relative or friend in Sweden

You must also attach documents concerning the relative or friend you plan to visit in Sweden.

You must have:

  • Invitation (240011 swe or 241011 eng) – If you wish to invite a relative or friend to visit you. The form must be completed and signed by the relative or friend in Sweden wishing to invite you
  • Civic registration/family certificate (personbevis) for the relative/friend in Sweden. Such a document for the purpose of an invitation may be ordered from the Swedish Tax Agency. The document should not be older than 3 months
  • And – if the relative/friend will be paying for your support in Sweden – his/her pay slip, pension statement or statement of account for the past 3 months
