Visiting Sweden

If you plan to visit Sweden and are a Mozambican citizen you need a visa. A visa is a permit to travel to and stay in a country for a maximum of 90 days. If you intend to stay in Sweden for longer than 90 days you will need a visitors’ residence permit.

Important changes for applicants living in Mozambique, Eswatini and Madagascar

The Swedish Embassy in Maputo does no longer handle migration cases.

If you are a citizen of Mozambique, Eswatini, or Madagascar, or if you reside in any of these countries, and wish to apply for a residence, work, or student permit, you must now contact one of the following Swedish foreign missions:

  • Embassy in Lusaka, Zambia
  • Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa

What does this mean for you?

You must personally visit Lusaka or Pretoria for:

  • Interviews
  • Passport checks
  • Providing biometric data
