Residence permit cards

If you have been granted a residence permit you will be given a residence permit card. This card is proof that you have a valid residence permit in Sweden and will allow you to travel to the Schengen area.

To order the residence permit card you need to leave your fingerprints and take a picture at the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje. If you have left your fingerprints and taken your picture while your application for residence permit was still being processed your card will be ordered automatically when the residence permit is granted. You do not need to book an appointment to leave your fingerprints or take the picture at the embassy. You can come to order the card anytime during the normal working hours of the Migration Section, Monday-Thursday 09.00-11.00.

After the card has been ordered it usually takes 2-6 weeks for the card to arrive at the embassy. Please e-mail (ambassaden.skopje-visum@gov.se) or call (+389 23 297 898, 14.00-15.00 Monday-Thursday) the embassy to make sure that your card has arrived.

To pick up your card, please visit the Embassy between 09.00 - 10.00 Monday-Thursday. You do not need to make an appointment to pick up the card, but remember to bring your passport.

As residence permit cards are sometimes delayed, we recommend that you do not book any tickets for the trip to Sweden before receiving your residence permit card.

Citizens of Albania and North Macedonia can also travel to Sweden without a residence permit card, if they have not already used all the 90 days of visa free travels to Schengen. The residence permit card can thereafter be ordered at the Swedish Migration Agency’s offices, to book an appointment for this please visit https://www.migrationsverket.se/English/Contact-us/Book-an-appointment-before-you-visit-us.html
