Apply for a Visa

If you want to visit Sweden and are a citizen of a country outside the European Union (EU), you may need a visa.

Starting 01st December 2021, applicants submitting visa applications and collection of passports through representative must include following documents:

• Original power of attorney (duly signed by applicant)
• Copy of a valid Indian government ID proof of the representative i.e., Passport/Aadhar Card/PAN Card/Voter ID Card/Driving License

How to apply

To improve the service available to those applying for a visa, the embassy cooperates with VFS Global. You present your application in person to VFS Global, and they can also provide you with information and other kinds of service. When the decision has come through you collect your passport along with the visa if approved from the VFS Global office. Applying at VFS Global will be the easiest and most convenient way to apply.

 Where to apply

You can apply at any of the VFS offices or at the Embassy in New Delhi if you can show that you are residing in India (also applicable for Indian Nationals).

Visa applications can be submitted in nine of VFS Global’s application centers in India - New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. Check the VFS Global website for the application center’s address and opening hours and for other practical information.

VFS Global charge a service fee EUR 12.75 (inclusive of Service tax) per application over and above the visa application fee. For more information on service fee please visit VFS Global website.

A decision on your application will normally be available within 15 calendar days. Please note that applications can be lodged no more than six months before the start of the intended stay (nine months for seafarers).

Sri Lanka

If you live in Sri Lanka and wish to apply for a visa to travel to Sweden, you should contact the Norwegian Embassy in Colombo.

Bhutan

If you live in Bhutan and wish to apply for a visa to travel to Sweden, you should contact the Danish Embassy in New Delhi.

Maldives

If you live in Maldives and wish to apply for a visa to travel to Sweden, you should contact the Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi.
