Temporary Vacancy: Political Officer

This is a temporary position for around 7 months, starting from 1 August 2026. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in an international environment and contribute to the embassy’s political analysis, reporting, and engagement with partners. The position involves close contact with Swedish government agencies, Embassies and international organisations. You will work in a dynamic setting where strategic thinking, initiative, and the ability to handle multiple processes simultaneously are essential.

Main Responsibilities

As Political Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Embassy’s political work. Your responsibilities include:

• Monitoring, analysing, and reporting on political and societal developments in Vietnam.
• Building and maintaining networks with Vietnamese authorities, civil society, academia, and international actors.
• Representing the Embassy in external meetings, events and dialogues with international partners.

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in political science or another relevant field.
• Experience in political analysis, reporting, diplomacy, or international relations.
• Experience working in Swedish public administration is beneficial but not required.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Swedish and Vietnamese language skills are beneficial but not required.
• Knowledge of Vietnam and the region is an advantage.

The Embassy welcomes applicants with different backgrounds and experiences. A security clearance will be conducted. The position is a local employment contract governed by local labour legislation. Local salary conditions apply. Swedish nationals may be subject to specific tax regulations, including the Special Income Tax for Non‑Residents (SINK).
