Job description

The Embassy of Sweden in Nicosia is looking to hire a fixed-term employee, starting as soon as possible, and ending 30 June, 2026. The tasks will mainly be related to the upcoming EU Presidency of Cyprus. They will include, as required, monitoring and reporting on political developments in Cyprus and relating to the EU Presidency agenda. The officer will assist in the organization of events and briefings for Swedish and/or Cypriot counterparts, as well as having a key role in planning and executing delegations’ visits to Cyprus. Dialogue with Cypriot government authorities, business and civil society will be an essential task.

Qualifications

Required skills

• Academic background in a relevant field, such as political science or public administration
• Excellent ability to foster networks
• IT proficiency and solid skills in Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including fluency in English
• Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks, as per the needs of the Embassy
• High level of professional integrity and good judgement
• Excellent planning and organizational skills

Qualifications considered a merit

• Understanding of Cypriot society, culture, and business
• Knowledge of the Swedish language, culture, and business
• Knowledge of Cypriot governmental system and contacts within Cypriot society
• Experience from and interest in communication, including social media
• Knowledge in Greek and/or Turkish

Employment conditions

The position is a full-time, fixed-term employment, starting as soon as possible and ending 30 June, 2026.
