The Consulate General of Sweden in New York is open for consular services, including passports appointments - by appointment only. New York State has implemented a 14-day self-quarantine requirement for individuals traveling from high-risk states, as identified by New York State. Please note that the US Department of State has confirmed that the NY Governor’s Office regards travel to obtain passports as essential, and individuals entering New York State for this purpose are not subject to the 14-day self-quarantine requirement, provided they adhere to certain requirements (see link below). Due to COVID-19, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs has decided not to offer internship positions at any foreign mission during the spring of 2021. This means that the Consulate General will not accept any interns during this period of time. We hope to be able to offer an internship position in the fall of 2021.
To mitigate the effects of the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the outbreak, a temporary ban on entry to the EU via Sweden is in force. The Government has decided to extend the entry ban until 31 October 2020.
Due to the coronavirus and the temporary entry ban to Sweden, the Swedish Migration Agency has decided that the majority of visa applications will be rejected. This applies if you wish to visit Sweden and are a citizen of a country outside the EU.
