Are you our new Trade Promotion Officer?

The Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi is hiring a locally employed Trade Promotion Officer to be jointly responsible for the Embassy’s activities to promote Swedish businesses and trade with Vietnam. The Officer will be part of the Embassy’s Sweden Promotion Team.

Tasks

In addition to planning and executing specific trade promotion activities, tasks include cooperating and coordinating joint promotion activities with Business Sweden in Vietnam, responding to questions from Swedish and Vietnamese companies, as well as following and contributing to the Embassy's reporting on trade policy and economic development in Vietnam with a particular focus on the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Vietnam (EVFTA). Other tasks may arise depending on the Embassy’s needs and the applicant's profile; all employees at the Embassy are required to have the flexibility to adapt and contribute when and where needed.

Profile

You should have the education, interest and knowledge relevant for the position. Knowledge of the region and Vietnam is important as is knowledge in trade policy. You should have good ability to work independently and take own initiative, while also being able to work as part of a team. We see high value in strong communication skills and would like to see that you are outgoing, flexible and committed. Background in private sector, in Vietnam or Sweden, is an asset.

You are fluent in English, both spoken and written, and knowledge in Swedish and/or Vietnamese would be a strong asset. Experience from Swedish trade and foreign policy, either through the Foreign Services or the Government Offices, would be meritorious.

Application

The position is a permanent position starting with a six-month probation period. A collective agreement for locally employed at the Embassy is in place. We would like to see the person take up this position as soon as possible in early 2023.

The Embassy welcomes applicants with a variety of backgrounds. A security and background check will be conducted. For Swedish citizens, special tax rules apply; see the Act (1991:586) on special income tax for residents abroad (SINK).

About the Embassy

The Embassy of Sweden is responsible for strengthening Sweden’s presence in Vietnam and to broaden and deepen the relations between the two countries in all areas. Today, 15 people is working at the Embassy including 3 sent-out staff from the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Together with Business Sweden and the Honorary Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, the Embassy facilitates cooperation between Swedish and Vietnamese authorities, businesses, agencies and organisations. Companies from both countries receives support and advice in how to do business either in Sweden or Vietnam, including how to search for relevant partners.
