In collaboration with Cinématte Bern and the Swedish Institute, the Swedish Embassy is this year presenting three recent film productions and one rare movie classic – a Swedish crime movie from 1976.
Film season starts on September 8 with the premiere of “The Dance Club.”

If things are so good, why do we feel so bad?
At the psychiatric clinic Care, profit comes before people, and handing out diagnoses is more rewarding than actually helping anyone feel better. Psychology student Johannes doesn’t exactly fit in during his internship, but everything changes when he meets a group of misfit patients: Rose, who’s dealing with mysterious pain “down there”, Markus, a realtor who can’t stop crying at open houses, Emily, who’s mid-ADHD assessment, and Rakel, a performance artist who literally dances her way through personal injustice. Together, they form an unlikely alliance - The Dance Club - where they ask a radical question: are there ways to heal that don’t involve pills and labels?
The Cast:
Director Lisa Langseth returns to filmmaking after the global success of her Netflix series Love & Anarchy. The film stars Nils Wetterholm (Young Royals) and Alva Bratt (Barracuda Queens), alongside acclaimed actors Pernilla August, one of Sweden’s most celebrated actresses and directors, and Matias Varela (Narcos). The cast also features comedian Evelyn Mok, while reality TV star Julia Franzén makes her acting debut in The Dance Club.
