Accusing Mando Diao of being on the lazy side would be undeniably unfair: Close after the release of "BANG" (2019) and their efforts as a house band for the popular TV program “På Spåret”, the quintet will release its second Swedish-language album on June 12.
This is a standalone sequel to the 2012 Swedish Grammy Award winning "Infruset", the record with interpretations of Gustaf Fröding poetry, that sold four times platinum, topped the album list, as today has over 70 million streams on Spotify and from where the song "Strövtåg i hembygden" came to be a national treasure with over 167 weeks at Svensktoppen, of which 86 weeks No. 1.
With “I Solnedgången” (in the sunset) the band has had the ambition to bring out the humanism in the music and lyrics. Compositions to poems by Karin Boye, Nils Ferlin and Gustaf Fröding, mixed texts from the members themselves or from Björn Dixgård's parents were recorded in four days and by using old school recording techniques in Borlänge.
“I solnedgången” is out on June 12 (Playground Music Sweden) and beside the digital format also available on white vinyl and cd here
