Development cooperation

Sweden is one of the largest donors among EU member states to North Macedonia.

Sweden’s development cooperation with North Macedonia supports the country's rapprochement with the EU and focuses on four areas:

  • Human rights, democracy, rule of law and gender equality,
  • Peaceful and inclusive societies,
  • Environment and climate,
  • Economic development

The development cooperation is governed by a strategy valid for the period 2021-2027. The responsible Agency for Strategy implementation is the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency – www.sida.se

Mr. Mikael Atterhög, Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden in North Macedonia, can be reached at mikael.atterhog@gov.se
