Swedish community celebrate Lucia at the Residence

Santa Lucia is celebrated on December 13. it is one of the most important Swedish traditional festivities marking the arrival of Santa Lucia (Saint of light), which according to legends, brought "food and help to Christians hidden in the catacombs" using a wreath of candles to "light her way through the catacombs and leaving her hands free to carry as much food as possible."

Under the theme "For a Gender Equal Society", Lucia will highlight the important advances that Sweden has made in creating an equal society and how Swedish companies have applied the concept of equality and inclusion in their daily operations, as part of their corporate social responsibility.

 

In addition to the traditional Lucia processions, carols and the typical Swedish cuisine, there will be an exhibition of Swedish companies and representatives of Swedish brands, namely ABB, Bayport, Volvo Cars and Tetra Pak, in the energy, finance, automotive and food packaging sectors, respectively.The reception also includes performances by Mozambican Afro-Jazzsinger Chude Mondlane and the students of the Scandinavian School in Maputo.

 

More than 200 people will participate in the Lucia Reception to be held on Thursday, December 13, at 6:00 pm, at the Residence of the Ambassador  of Sweden in Mozambique.The event is attended by the Minister of Industry and Trade, His Excellency Ragendra de Sousa.
