Vacancy announcement: Promotion Officer

The Embassy of Sweden in Tel Aviv is seeking a Promotion Officer to strengthen and develop the Embassy’s work in promoting Swedish strategic, economic and cultural interests as well as work in communication. This is a role for a creative, flexible and outgoing professional with a strong interest in international collaboration, cultural diplomacy, and strategic communication.

The Embassy of Sweden in Tel Aviv represents Sweden and the Government of Sweden in Israel, managing a wide range of matters including politics, the promotion of Swedish interests, trade, culture, press and public relations, administration and consular affairs.

As Promotion Officer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing promotional and communication activities. You will work as an integrated part of the Political, Communication and Promotion Section, under the leadership of the Head of Section, and in close cooperation with other Embassy staff and Team Sweden (including other Swedish government agencies, such as Business Sweden and Vinnova).

Main responsibilities

  • Work on the Embassy’s promotion, outreach and public diplomacy activities in Israel, across different thematic areas (culture, trade, promotion of Swedish values and interests).
  • Plan, manage and implement as well as communicate about events, exhibitions and activities, both physical and digital, that highlight Swedish interests.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and providing practical support for programmes and visits by delegations to and from Sweden.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Team Sweden partners as well as building and maintaining a network of contacts with relevance for promotion activities.
  • Work with the Political and Communication Officer in content creation of communication materials, including text, images and video content for the Embassy’s digital channels.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on social, cultural, economic and trade developments in Israel and the region. This includes, but is not limited to, domestic developments and perspectives on Jewish life, antisemitism and Holocaust remembrance.
  • Serving as an advisor to Embassy staff on issues within the above areas.
  • Representing Sweden in external meetings and events as and when required.

Qualifications and experience

  • A university degree in a relevant field (e.g. Political Science, Business and Economics, International Relations, Marketing, Communications, or other relevant academic areas).
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional working experience in matters related to the job description.
  • Fluency in Hebrew and English
  • Excellent analytical, writing and editing skills, across a variety of communication formats, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in building and managing relationships with a wide range of actors
  • Strong knowledge and interest in the political, cultural, social and economic developments in Israel.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Multimedia skills such as photography, videography / content creation and design are a plus
  • High motivation, strong social and interpersonal skills and a constructive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Other relevant experience linked to the responsibilities listed above
  • Knowledge of Swedish is considered an asset but is not a requirement.

You must be able to work independently, while also supporting colleagues across a broad range of Embassy functions. You must be flexible and open to taking on different tasks and responsibilities within your role.

What we offer

  • The position is a full-time position, Monday to Friday. The role may require occasional work during evenings and outside standard working hours. The position is covered by a global overtime compensation arrangement.
  • The starting date is 1 September 2026, and the employment starts with a probation period of six months.
  • The position is offered under a local contract in accordance with Israeli employment regulations, and conditions follow the Embassy’s terms and conditions for local staff. Individual salary setting applies.
  • Applicants must have a work permit in Israel to be eligible for the role.
