Can I apply for a Swedish passport or national ID card at the Embassy in Reykjavik?

In 2014, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs decided to dicontinue the option to apply for a passport at the Swedish embassies in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries.

For information regarding passport applications, please refer to The Swedish Police Authority.

It takes approximately 3–5 working days to produce a passport. If you are unable stay in Sweden during this period, you can request at the time of application for the passport to be sent to the Embassy in Reykjavik. Once your new passport is ready and has arrived at the embassy, you will be notified by email or SMS (depending on the contact information you provided during the application).

You must collect the passport in person, and bring a valid ID.

An administrative fee is paid when collecting the passport. See: Fees - Sweden Abroad.
