Important Information for Your Stay in Ethiopia
For Swedish citizen, it is crucial to have a valid visa or residence permit card for the entire duration of your stay in Ethiopia. Equally important is ensuring that your passport has a clear entry stamp, whether you arrived via airport, land border, or other means of transport.
If your visa or permit has expired, fines begin accumulating from the day the validity ends. The penalty is 30 USD per day. If your passport lacks an entry stamp, the Ethiopian authorities may calculate your stay from your date of birth or other date, wich will result in extremely high fees since there is no limit on the fine amount.
Before and during your stay, remember to:
• Apply for a visa before your trip
• Make sure your passport is stamped when entering Ethiopa
• Renew your visa before it expires to avoid overstaying fines
• Keep receipts and documentation for your entire stay in Ethiopia
