This panel discussion brought together four speakers from the MENA region to share their expertise on the challenges and opportunities for diversifying the advocates of the WPS agenda, focusing particularly on the role of men, regional militarisation and masculinities.
The panel was followed by an interactive workshop that invited civil servants, civil society, think tanks and gender equality advocates to provide recommendations on how to include men and boys in the WPS-agenda. Key recommendations included suggestions to strengthen strategies within WPS programming to support men and boys as allies for gender equality, integrating gender-transformative approaches in peacebuilding, expanding cross-sector partnerships to advance coordinated and evidence-based WPS action, and investing in community-level awareness and capacity building to deepen public understanding around the topic.
The panel discussion was organised in collaboration with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
The report will be uploaded at a later stage.
