Embassy of Sweden in Prague is looking for a Consular and Administrative Officer

About the Embassy

The Embassy of Sweden in Prague works to monitor, represent, and promote Swedish interests in the Czech Republic. The Embassy handles matters relating to politics, economics, culture, and consular services. We are a team of ten employees, four of whom are posted from Sweden, and the Embassy is headed by the Ambassador. Our offices are located in a historic building at Úvoz 156/13 in Prague 1.

About the Position

As a Consular and Administrative Officer, you will play a central role in the Embassy's operations and serve as an important point of contact for the public. The position involves a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Processing passport applications, driving license matters, and other consular cases.
  • Staffing the reception and telephone switchboard.
  • Serving as an integral part of the Embassy's consular crisis management organization.
  • Providing support with other administrative duties as required, including maintaining the waiting area.
  • Acting as secondhand responsible to the Embassy's finance assistant.

The role involves daily contact with Swedish citizens, Czech authorities, and other external stakeholders. It therefore requires strong service orientation, attention to detail, and excellent teamwork skills.

Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed upper secondary education or equivalent.
  • Experience of administrative work.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a structured manner.
  • Excellent service skills and strong communication abilities.
  • Good command of Swedish, Czech, and English, both written and spoken.

Preferred qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who meet the required qualifications and who also hold Swedish citizenship.

Additional merits include:

  • Good knowledge of Czech authorities and public administration.
  • Experience in crisis management.
  • Experience working in public administration, international organizations, or diplomatic missions.
  • Experience in consular work or the exercise of public authority.
  • Knowledge of Sweden and Swedish government agencies.
  •  A valid category B driving license or equivalent.

Employment Conditions

  • Full-time position with individual salary setting.
  • Other terms and conditions are governed by the collective agreement (L-Lok). Tax liability is determined by the Swedish Tax Agency.
  • A security vetting process will be carried out prior to the start of employment.
  • Six-month probationary period applies. Start date no later than mid-January 2027.
