Håkan Jevrell
Håkan Jevrell is a distinguished Swedish diplomat and public servant with a comprehensive background in law, international relations, and defense. Since October 2022 to June 2025, he was serving as State Secretary for Foreign Trade at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, focusing on foreign trade and investment promotion.
Prior to this, he was Sweden’s Ambassador and Special Envoy on Organised Crime (2020–2022). From 2018 to 2020, he represented Sweden in Taiwan, following his tenure as Sweden's Ambassador to Singapore and Brunei (2013–2018). During his time in Singapore, he initiated the Sweden–Southeast Asia Business Summit, fostering economic ties between Sweden and the region.
Håkan Jevrell has held key governmental positions, including two terms as State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence (2007–2010 and 2010–2012). During his tenure at the ministry of defence he led the work on several major defence reforms. He was also a Political Adviser at the Prime Minister’s Office (2006–2007) and a legal advisor for the Moderate Party in the Swedish Parliament (2004–2005).
His legal career includes serving as a prosecutor at the Västerort Public Prosecution Office in Stockholm (2001–2006). He holds a Master of Laws degree from Stockholm University (1997) and pursued legal studies at the University of Hannover (1994–1995).
Before his legal and diplomatic career, he served in the Swedish Navy (1987–1990), earning a commission as a lieutenant.
In 2020, the Taiwanese Government conferred the Order of Brilliant Star with Violet Grand Cordon upon State Secretary Jevrell. In 2024, the President of Finland conferred the Order of the Lion of Finland, Commander First Class, upon Jevrell. He is also a recipient the Medal of Merit in Gold by the Swedish Reserve Officers Federation.
Beyond his official duties, the Ambassador Jevrell has contributed to various boards, including the Swedish Federation of Reserve Officers. Håkan is married to Catharina and they have two adult children.
