The situation in Ukraine during the ongoing winter is serious, as a result of intensive attacks by Russia and severe cold weather. Ukraine is currently the largest recipient of Swedish development assistance. The Swedish Government, municipalities, government agencies, companies, civil society and private individuals are working together to protect civilians, strengthen Ukraine’s resilience and help with the country’s reconstruction and EU integration, and to ensure that Russia is held accountable for its crimes in Ukraine.

Here are a few of the Swedish government agencies that are making a difference on a daily basis:
🔹 The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) is supporting Ukraine through humanitarian efforts and by providing long-term support to rebuild infrastructure that has been destroyed and to help strengthen the country’s economy and social development.
🔹 The Folke Bernadotte Academy is contributing to security, democratic growth and resilience in Ukraine, for example by helping it develop closer ties to the EU, and through the reintegration of veterans and defence reforms.
🔹 **The Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency **is contributing to life-saving initiatives in Ukraine, for example through support for mine clearance, rescue services and the energy sector.
🔹 The National Board of Trade is strengthening Ukraine’s trade, economy and EU integration by offering Ukrainian companies and public authorities technical advice, export support and training.
🔹 The Swedish Export Credit Agency is promoting trade between Sweden and Ukraine by making it safer and easier for Swedish companies to export to Ukraine.
🔹 The Swedish Institute is financing cooperation projects between Swedish actors and their counterparts in Ukraine. The projects cover areas such as economic growth, business and trade and human rights.
🔹 The Swedish Armed Forces is strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities by training soldiers and through the procurement, donation and transport of defence equipment, weapons and ammunition.
