Appeal

If your visa application is refused, you have the right to appeal the decision. The refusal letter will explain the reasons for the rejection. If you are not satisfied with the decision, you may submit a written appeal no later than three (3) weeks from the date you received it.

Your appeal should be submitted to the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok.

If more than three weeks have passed since you received the decision, the appeal will be rejected by the Embassy.

Your appeal should include the following information:

  • The decision you wish to appeal
  • How you want the decision to be changed.
  • Your name, date of birth, postal address, email address and telephone number.
  • Any additional circumstances or evidence that that you have not previously submitted but wish to add to your case.

Please write your appeal in either Swedish or English.

If someone other than you (the applicant) signs the appeal on your behalf, that person must be authorized to represent you through a power of attorney.

If the Embassy changes the decision
If the Embassy finds that the decision should be changed, you will be contacted. The decision can be changed if you provide new information or if the Embassy concludes that the original decision was incorrect.

If the Embassy does not change the decision
If your appeal is submitted within the allotted time and the Embassy finds no reasons to change the decision, your case will be forwarded to the Administrative Court in Stockholm as soon as possible. Your application, the decision, and all supporting documents will be sent to the court in Stockholm. The court will then make a decision and notify you at the address you provided in your application or in your appeal.

Once the case has been transferred to the court, any further questions regarding the matter should be directed to them. You can find their contact information via the link provided here.

How long will it take?
After your appeal has been received, the Embassy will contact you within a few working days if they decide to change the original decision. If the Embassy chooses not to amend the decision and instead forwards your case to the court in Stockholm, the waiting time will be longer.
