Sports or cultural visit – extra documents

Due to a temporary ban on entering Sweden, the VFS Global Visa Application Centers have stopped accepting visa applications from March 23, 2020 until further notice. In the same period the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow accepts visa applications only of those who belong to the category of people who are allowed to enter Sweden and need a visa. More information you can find here. You should contact the Embassy prior to your application by email: visa.moscow@gov.se.

If you apply for a visa to visit Sweden for a sporting or cultural purpose, you need the documents listed below.

You must have:

  • The documents required by all visa applicants. Read more under ‘Required documents
  • If the purpose is a cultural activity - A written request from the host organisation in the Schengen Member State on participation in such activities. In case not included in the written request, a separate statement on sponsorship either from the sending or receiving party (or other proof of financial means)
  • If the purpose is a sporting activity - A written request from the host organisation (competent authority, national sport federation or national Olympic committee), including information on the role of the persons. In case not included in the written request, a separate statement on sponsorship either from the sending or receiving party (or other proof of financial means)
