Sweden & China

Life Science

Everyone wants to be healthy and disease and health challenges are global issues. The 25:th of October 2016 the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council presented the “Healthy China 2030” blueprint. The blueprint is a plan for health development for the next 15 years. Sweden and China have long standing relations and can mutually benefit from collaboration in the health and life science sector.

Sweden has an extensive partnership with China within the field of life science. In May 2006 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was established between the Sweden and China, which was followed up with an action plan for 2011-2014. The current cooperation is guided by the 2015-2018 action plan and an extension of the MoU signed in May 2016.

The life science platform is run by Team Sweden (The Embassy of Sweden, The Swedish Consulate General in Shanghai, The Swedish Consulate in Hong Kong and Business Sweden). We have jointly chosen to prioritize life sciences as a platform to promote Swedish innovation and presence in the Chinese market.   Team Sweden can offer corporations and organizations communication platforms, assist in influencing policy by utilizing existing channels of communication with the Chinese government and its authorities and act as a representative in discussions with ministries, universities and other relevant organizations. We can also generate contacts with desired counterparts at the national level.

Through our platform we:

  • create general channels of communication that can increase interest and understanding of Swedish Life Science solutions
  • promote deeper and broader collaboration between Sweden and China in the field of Life Science
  • organize activities, such as round table discussions, seminars and delegations.
