Voting in Texas

On September 13th 2026, there will be a general election in Sweden. The Consulate General in Houston will organize voter registration and postal voting for Swedish citizens living in Texas for this general election. All Swedish citizens over the age of 18 who have ever been registered in Sweden are allowed to vote.

You can vote early in Austin, Dallas, and Houston during the following days and times.

Voting by mail from Texas

Anyone abroad can vote by mail. You can obtain materials for voting by mail from the Consulate General in Houston and the Honorary Consulate in Dallas.

If you want to vote by mail from abroad, you can send your vote by mail no earlier than July 27. Votes received by mail before July 30 will not be valid.

Voting rights for Swedish citizens residing in Texas

You can vote in the Swedish general election (2026) and the election to the European Parliament (2029) if you are:

  • a Swedish citizen
  • have turned 18 by election day or older 
  • have ever been registered in Sweden
