Voting in Ireland

On 13 September 2026, Sweden will hold a national election. All Swedish citizens aged 18 or older who have at some point been registered as residents in Sweden are eligible to vote.

Advance voting in Ireland

A voting reception will be arranged in Dublin to allow for advance voting. The Embassy will have a voting station at our premises:

Thursday, 20 August, 10:30–12:30
Tuesday, 25 August, 10:30–12:30
Wednesday, 26 August, 10:30–12:30 and 16:00–18:00
Thursday, 27 August, 10:30–12:30 and 16:00–18:00
Saturday, 29 August, 10:00–15:00
Thursday, 3 September, 10:30–12:30

Postal voting from Ireland

Anyone who is abroad can vote by mail. The Swedish Election Authority sends postal voting material to voters living abroad (who are no longer registered in the Swedish Population Register), provided they are included in the electoral roll and have an updated address in the Swedish Tax Agency’s population registry.

If you wish to vote by mail from abroad, you may send your postal vote no earlier than 30 July 2026.

Voting rights for Swedish citizens living abroad

You may vote in the parliamentary election and the election to the European Parliament if you:

  • are a Swedish citizen
  • will be at least 18 years old on election day
  • have at some point been registered as a resident in Sweden
